Oil-Rite was founded in 1933 in Milwaukee by Frank J. Lyden, and its first product was the constant level oiler for large bearings and gearboxes. The idea is simple: the oiler holds the oil at the right level by itself, with no moving parts and no power, so the bearing is never left dry.
The company moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, in 1951 and is still there. The range has grown from oilers to gauges, switches, sight feed valves, vent plugs, reservoirs and its PurgeX dispensing line. Oil-Rite says it does about 95 percent of its manufacturing in-house and can produce anything from single units to very large runs.
